Bank of England | Interest rate held at 3.75%

The Bank of England held Bank Rate at 3.75% at its meeting on 17 September 2026.

The Monetary Policy Committee voted 6-3 to keep the rate unchanged. Three members preferred an increase of 0.25 percentage points, which would have taken Bank Rate to 4%.

With inflation still above the Bank’s target, the decision leaves policy on a cautious footing.
